The crash happened around 9:55 a.m. at State and River roads in Bristol Township’s Croydon section.

“Upon arrival, officers investigated and found a goose flew out of the woods directly into the side of a  motorcyclist’s head. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet. The impact sent the motorcyclist into  the oncoming lane of traffic,” police said in a statement.

The 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle ended up sideswiping an oncoming 2016 Chevrolet Spark and then drove head-on into a 2022 Toyota Highlander SUV, police said.

The motorcyclist was killed and pronounced dead at the scene by the Bucks County Rescue Squad.

Police closed the intersection for several hours as they investigated the fatal crash.

Police were assisted by Bristol Borough police, Bristol Township Fire Rescue, and the Croydon Fire Company.

Anyone with information on the crash has been asked to call Officer Paul Aita at 267-812-3042.

While uncommon, animals and motorcyclists sometimes collide. In April 2016, a motorcyclist on River Road in Bristol Township was hurt when he hit a deer that was in the roadway.
