Data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health showed the county went from 861 new cases the prior week to 742 last week. Although it should be noted, the number of new infections is likely an under count as many at-home positive tests aren’t recorded in the official number.

The recent sustained drop in cases has been mirrored statewide. The numbers are dramatically down from the record high of close to 10,000 new cases in the first week of 2022.

Last week, Bucks County’s COVID-19 test positivity rate fell from 8.8 percent to 6.6 percent. A test positivity rate higher than 5 percent means health experts consider the spread of COVID-19 uncontrolled.

The Bucks County Health Department reported there were 64 local residents in hospitals with COVID-19, 11 in intensive care, and four on ventilators as of Wednesday.

The Bucks County Department of Health considers people with two shots fully vaccinated and uses that for their metric, while federal officials consider someone fully vaccinated when they have three shots.

There were four deaths of COVID-19 patients in the county last week, per state data. The number is the lowest weekly level seen since the end of November 2021.
