Falls Township will be seeking a grant for their recycling efforts.

Last month, the Falls Township Board of Supervisors approved hiring F.X. Browne Inc. for $5,200 to write a grant proposal that could net the municipality $50,000 or more.
Supervisors Chairperson Jeff Dence said the state Act 101 grant offers towns the chance to be awarded funding to support recycling.
“Grant amounts are based on total tonnage for residential and commercial properties. F.X. Browne Inc., as part of its proposal, will obtain valid documentation needed for the application,” a township statement said.

Falls Township has received just over $50,000 for each of the two previous years, the township said in a statement.
“It’s well worth it,” Dence said.

Falls Township has submitted applications for the grant of the past 20 years.
Township officials urge residents to recycle as much waste as possible, as every piece could mean more grant funding.
The township is selling 22-gallon recycling containers at the Municipal Complex on Lincoln Highway for residents who are interested.

In other business, the supervisors voted to approve spending $230,832 for two new police department K-9 vehicles, one patrol SUV, and two detective vehicles. The fire marshal’s office will also receive a Ford Interceptor Utility SUV for service.
Police Chief Nelson Whitney and Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito both said the vehicles will replace older ones that are coming up to the end of the service lives.
