Towns Declare Snow Emergencies

Local towns have begun declaring snow emergencies ahead of a large nor’easter set to hit the area starting Friday evening.

Bristol Township:

Bristol Township has declared a snow emergency from Friday at 6 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. Saturday.

Below is previous information township officials released during snow emergencies:

During a snow emergency, parking is prohibited on all designated Snow Emergency routes and on all Township roadways where residents have access to off-street parking. No person shall operate a vehicle upon any street without chains or all-weather tires.

Any vehicles parked, stalled, incapable of moving or left unattended on any street, may be removed or towed by the Police Department. No person shall deposit snow upon any street.

Please try to limit travel during the anticipated storm. You can monitor weather forecasts atย www.weather.gov.ย If you lose power, please report the outage directly to PECO at 1-800-841-4141.

Snow Emergency routes roads receive highest priority in plowing and de-icing. Major Intersections, Section Entrances, Passes and Drives are then cleared. In accordance with Township ordinances, all vehicles parked on a township street or right-of-way MUST be removed within two hours after snow or sleet falls in sufficient amounts to form, lay upon and cover the street surface so as to permit unimpeded access and passage by snow and ice removal equipment. The Police Department is authorized to issue citations to any vehicle left on the streets and rights-of-way two (2) hours after snow or sleet falls.

During winter storms there are many ways residents are able to help provide thorough and efficient snow removal services. The following is a list of Doโ€™s and Donโ€™ts for residents to follow during snow/ice storms. Following these guidelines will help provide safe passage for everyone.

DO:

Clear the sidewalk in front of your home within 12 hours (required by Municipal Ordinance)Move vehicles from the street into your driveway to not obstruct Municipal Snowplows.

Clear fire hydrants of snow and ice so they are visible and quickly accessible.

Clear all vehicle windows of snow and ice BEFORE operating the vehicle (required by PA Vehicle Code)Clear sufficient space to accommodate garbage and recycling containers.

Help elderly or disabled neighbors that may not be able to clear snow as required.

Delay unnecessary travel until after roads have been cleared.

DO NOT:

Place snow from driveways or sidewalks into the roadway (prohibited by Municipal Ordinance)Leave vehicles on or near the road in a manner that will hinder snowplow activities.

Falls Township

Falls Township has declared a snow emergency for Friday, January 28th starting at 6:00 p.m., expiring on Saturday, January 29th at 6:00 p.m. All vehicles, boats, trailers, etc. must be moved off of all Township streets and onto your property to allow the road crew and emergency services access down all streets.

Langhorne Borough

The Mayor has issued a snow emergency for Langhorne Borough for Friday Jan 28- Sunday Jan. 30.

Friday, January 28 at 5pm – Sunday, January 30 at 6:00amWe are expecting significant snow fall.

Please follow the snow emergency regulations and move cars off the street so the plows can clear the streets as needed. During a snow emergency all vehicles, trailers, etc. are to be off all streets in the Borough until 24 hours after the snow has stopped or the Mayor removes the snow emergency. If the snow is an overnight event it is best to move your vehicles before the snow begins. If cars are not moved you may be fined and the police may tow vehicles for the safety of our community.

Please be aware that property owners are required to remove snow and ice from sidewalks within 24 hours after the snow has stopped falling. Do not plow, push, blow or shovel snow into the street.

Hulmeville Borough

The borough declared a storm emergency starting on Friday at 7 p.m.

This declaration shall remain in effect until after storm conditions cease. All vehicles shall be removed from the posted snow emergency routes so that emergency equipment can proceed without restrictions and for the safe passage of salting and snow plowing equipment. It shall be further noted that police and fire services shall take additional steps preparing for any eventual emergency. This declaration shall take effect January 28, 2022, 7:00 pm

Penndel Borough

The Mayor has declared a snow emergency for the approaching storm effective Fri. 1/28 at 7:00pm & ending Sat. 1/29 at 7:00pm. Please remove all vehicles from streets to allow plows to remove snow. Those with no off-street parking should move cars to odd side of street & when plow comes through, move to even side. Please clear all sidewalks within 12 hours after snow ceases to fall.

Middletown Township

A snow emergencyย will be in effect beginning 5 PM on Friday, January 28thย as a severe winter stormย headsย our wayย which is expected to bring several inches ofย snow accumulations.ย 

Townshipย crews will be working hard to clear any accumulated snow on residential streets.ย Crews from PennDOT and PECO will be working to keep state roads clear of snow and utilities in operation.ย More information about how we respond to a snow storm can be foundย here.

Middletownย Townshipย would like to provide the following reminders to ensure that snow can be cleared quickly and safely:

โ€ขVehicles must be moved off the roadway within one hour of the snow beginning to fall

โ€ขDo not deposit shoveled snow onto the street – it will just get pushed back when the snow plow comes through

โ€ขFixed basketball nets cannot extend past the curb line, and portable ones should be removed from the street

โ€ขSidewalks must be cleared within 24 hours of the end of the snowfall, and residents living on a corner are responsible for the portion of the sidewalk around the corner

Tullytown Borough

Public Information Message: based on all available weather data a snow storm will impact our area. To facilitate snow removal from the streets Mayor Cutchineal has declared a snow emergency with parking restrictions from January 28, 2022 10pm thru January 29, 2022 4pm unless earlier rescinded.
