Plans circulated to county planners recently proposed tearing down the closed restaurant building at 1791 East Lincoln Highway. The lot sits in front of Restaurant Depot, Sam’s Club, and CarMax.

The plan call for tearing down the standing structure and building a roughly 2,145-square-foot Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in its place. The proposal calls for a a drive-thru and close to 50 parking spaces.

The existing building was constructed in the early 1980s. It has been home to meal delivery service Fit Fuel Foods and restaurants Rosemary’s Grill, Speedway Restaurant and Pub, and Ming’s Chinese Restaurant.

The Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen isn’t a lock and still needs approval from Middletown Township officials.

The proposed location is not more than a few hundred yards away from where Chick-fil-A will be building a new restaurant with a drive-thru.
