The Neshaminy School Board has sold park property to Langhorne Borough for $175,000.
The school board voted to sell the land that was being leased to the borough for Mayor’s Playground to the municipality in October. The sale agreement featured a clause stating the property, which is made up of three parcels along Maple Avenue, will remain a public park or ownership of the land will revert back to the school district.

The sale of the property closed in November, according to county tax records.
Borough Manager Christine Schoell said last week that the municipality intends to keep the property a park.
The park property was once the athletic fields for the long-closed Langhorne-Middletown High School on Cherry Street.

The empty Oliver Heckman Elementary School that sits near the park remains under the ownership of the school district.
If the borough does decide it wants to sell the land at any point, the school district would have a right of first refusal. At that point, the district could buy the land back for $175,000.
The district had leased the property to Langhorne Borough for years. The most recent agreement was slated to end in 2041.
