Police rushed to Levittown Wednesday morning after there was an alarm call that there was an active shooter at Albert Schweitzer Elementary School in Middletown Township.
Thankfully, it was determined the alarm at the Neshaminy School District facility was tripped accidentally as work was being performed, according to police.

“There is absolutely no danger to anyone in the schools or community,” police said in a statement.
“While this was a tense two minutes, hoards of police from all over the county were en route and at least eight from various townships were on scene within minutes. The notification system to all officers and dispatchers worked exactly as it should in a real emergency. Certainly not how we would like to ‘test’ the system, but rest assured all officers are ready to answer the call, no matter where we hail from,” the statement read.
LevittownNow.com readers reported seeing officers from Bristol Township and Lower Southampton Township rushing toward the area of the school.

Later in the morning, there was a heavy fire department response in the area of the rear of the school along Trenton Road. However, that response was due to a smoke condition in a building and not connected to the school.
