An aging bridge in Bristol Township will be repaired.

The Randall Avenue bridge that crosses Amtrak’s busy Northeast Corridor and provides a traffic connection between Route 13 and Radcliffe Street in the Edgely section of the township will see improvements through a state Multimodal Transportation Fund Program grant of $975,000.

The work will include patching and repairs to the bridgeโ€™s concrete surrounding the girder bearing areas, resealing of joints, repairs to deteriorating bottom flanges, and repairs to flanges and concrete-encased steel beams. The work will additionally include improvement of stormwater drainage around the span.

โ€œOur region had a vital need to improve and update the Randall Avenue Bridge,โ€ said State Rep. Tina Davis, a Democrat. โ€œThis grant will allow priority repairs to be completed on the bridge and allow the bridge to remain open to traffic while designs and construction for a new bridge are finalized and completed.โ€

The 169-foot span was constructed in 1919 and is listed by PennDOT as being in poor condition.
