Harry S. Truman High School unexpectedly closed on Friday.

Parents told LevittownNow.com the school sent a communication around sunrise alerting them classes were cancelled for the high school in Bristol Township due to “staff shortages.”

The school district put out a statement explaining what happened and stating the staff shortage was not related to COVID-19.

Below is the statement from the school district:

Truman High School received notification from 33 faculty members starting last night indicating they would not be at school today. There is no reason or data to support the belief that this “call out” is the result of COVID since the District would have received notification from the Bucks County Department of Health. No notifications were received. Schools were closed yesterday for Veteran’s Day.

Due to the shortage of substitutes and the volume of “call outs” received though our personnel system, we had no choice but to cancel classes.

The district and teachers’ union did not release further details on what happened.

Classes are set to resume for Monday.
