The Delaware River is at risk of more flooding thanks to a Friday storm and a higher-than-normal amount of rain earlier this week.

The Delaware River left its banks Thursday and early Friday along the riverfront in Bristol Borough. The Mill Street Parking Lot was partly flooded and the wharf became an island due to the swollen river.

The National Weather Service issued a Coastal Flooding Warning Friday for Lower Bucks County due to the threat from the river.

A river forecast for the Delaware River in Burlington, New Jersey, which is across from Bristol Borough and Bristol Township, called for the waterway to crest 11.5 feet above normal on Friday night. Minor to moderate flooding is expected through early Monday morning.

“Widespread minor to major tidal flooding is expected with high tide cycles today. The most significant tidal flooding impacts are expected along the tidal Delaware River,” forecasters said in a Friday morning briefing.

The area is expected to see half-an-inch to an inch of rain Friday. Wind and gusts up to 30 mph Friday afternoon and evening will be a concern, forecasters said.
