Bucks County’s Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program has transitioned to a new provider after nearly 45 years.
The WIC program recently went from being run by the Bucks County Health Department to being operated by the nonprofit Maternal and Family Health Services (MFHS). The changeover happened on October 1.

The county health department, which ran the program in Bucks County since October 1976, and MFHS worked with the state to transition the program without an interruption to WIC clients.
The WIC program is for pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, infants and children under age 5 who have a nutritional need and meet income eligibility guidelines.
WIC clients in Bucks County were notified of the change by the MFHS, officials said.

MFHS has operated WIC programs for 47 years. The group operates in 16 Pennsylvania counties.
Funding for the WIC program is directed through the state by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
