Local kids and teens who are uninsured and underinsured can receive a free eye check-up this weekend.

Those ages 6 to 17 can get the virtual vision screening through Wills Eye Hospital and Children First. Kids and teens who don’t pass the screening will be scheduled for a no cost full exam at Wills Eye Hospital in Center City Philadelphia.

“Too many children and teens donโ€™t have regular visits to the eye doctor primarily because vision care is expensive, even with insurance. This means that many kids are not able to see the page in a book, the whiteboard in a classroom, or the ball on the field. Children First, Wills Eye, and many other sponsors started Give Kids Sight Day twelve years ago to meet this important but unmet need in southeastern Pennsylvania,” said Children First, an advocacy and aid group.

To make an appointment for Saturday, call Children First at 215-563-5848 ext. 21 during business hours.
