A bill designating a September 11th National Memorial Trail that will cross through Bucks County is headed to President Joe Biden’s desk.

The U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate have passed legislation to authorize the U.S. secretary of the interior to designate a trail route linking the National September 11th Memorial and Museum in New York City, the Pentagon Memorial in Arlington, Virginia, and the Flight 93 National Memorial in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The bill passed the House 423-0 and was approved in the Senate by unanimous consent.

The September 11th National Memorial Trail will be 1,300 miles and is made up of existing trails and roadways.

The trail will come into Bucks County in Morrisville Borough and travel to the Garden of Reflection, the official state memorial to the September 11th attacks, in Lower Makefield Township before cutting through Central Bucks County and heading into Montgomery County, according to plans from the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance.

The legislation headed to Biden’s desk was introduced by Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, a Republican from Middletown Township; Congressman Gerald E. Connolly, a Democrat from Virginia; and Congressman Don Beyer, a Democrat from Virginia.

“In the wake of September 11th, our nation came together as one to honor and recognize those we lost on that tragic day 20 years ago,” Fitzpatrick said in a statement on his website. “The September 11th National Memorial Trail serves as a symbol of America’s resilience and ensures that we will forever remember the sacrifices made by the many heroes and innocent lives lost on 9/11. I applaud the Senate for passing our bipartisan legislation to designate the September 11th National Memorial Trail, and I look forward to the President signing this bill into law.”
