Pennsylvania State Police arrested a man they alleged in court papers was transporting a significant amount of suspected marijuana.

A trooper working with a specialized unit that targets illicit drugs on major highways stopped a 2020 GMC passenger van along I-95 northbound in the area of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Connector in Bristol Township last Thursday around 2:20 p.m., state police said.

During the traffic stop, the trooper noted “several observations” that made him suspect criminal activity was taking place, state police said.

A state police K-9 unit responded and hit on the possible odor of narcotics coming from the van, which was found to be a rental, according to court papers.

The driver – Christian Scott Schneider IIII, 40, of Woodside in the borough of Queens in New York City – was detained and state police obtained a search warrant.

A search warrant was obtained from a district judge and the vehicle was examined by troopers.

State police said they found 16 large boxes with 217 vacuum-seal packages of suspected marijuana, which weighed about 217 pounds. Troopers also reportedly found 10 jars of THC wax.

Schneider was charged with manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; possession of a controlled substance; and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. He was preliminarily arraigned by District Judge Frank Peranteau Sr. and jailed on 10 percent of $500,000.

According to court papers, Schneider was released Tuesday after bail was modified to 10 percent of $250,000 by Bucks County Judge James McMaster.
