Bucks County saw a slight rise in new COVID-19 cases last week, but the overall trend remained steady.
A total of 983 new infections were reported in the county last week, according to Pennsylvania Department of Health data. The caseload marked a roughly 5 percent increase over the prior seven-day period.
After rising for several weeks, the COVID-19 test positivity rate fell from 7.7 percent to 6.9 percent. A test positivity rate higher than 5 percent means health experts consider the spread uncontrolled.
Hospitalizations remained relatively steady with 58 Bucks Countians in area hospitals with COVID-19. Of those 58 patients, 15 were in intensive care, state data showed.
There were four COVID-19 deaths reported last week in Bucks County.
State health officials said that 27 Bucks County children between the age of newborn to 4 were COVID-19 positive between September 8 and September 14. The number of new cases in the county among kids ages 5 to 18 during the same period was 212.
The rate of COVID-19 vaccinations in Bucks County slightly declined.
According to state data, the amount of vaccine doses administered in the county went from 4,263 the prior week to 4,161 doses last week.
A total of 38,627 Bucks Countians were partially vaccinated and 330,640 were fully vaccinated at the start of this week. Since officials approved third doses for some high-risk populations, a total of 4,116 Bucks Countians have received third vaccine shots, according to state data.
About 60 percent of Bucks County’s eligible population is fully vaccinated and 67 percent received at least one dose as of the start of this week.
Bucks County remained in third place out of the four Philadelphia collar counties in vaccination rates. Delaware County remained further behind Bucks County. The numbers showed that Bucks County and the Philadelphia collar counties have vaccination rates higher than most places in the state.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 67,732 COVID-19 cases in Bucks County and 1,362 deaths.
