Slight Decrease In COVID-19 Cases In Bucks County

New COVID-19 cases in Bucks County slightly dropped as hospitalizations remained steady last week.

According to Pennsylvania Department of Health data, there were 1,000 new COVID-19 infections in the county. The number was a decrease from the 1,099 new cases the prior week, but much higher than numbers in early summer.

The COVID-19 test positivity rate in Bucks County increased from 7.1 percent to 7.3 percent. A test positivity rate higher than 5 percent means health experts consider the spread uncontrolled.

COVID-19 patient levels in area hospitals remain at levels last seen in May, but stayed lower than the winter peak.

As of Monday morning, there were 56 Bucks Countians in hospitals with COVID-19 and eight of them in intensive care.

There were four deaths of COVID-19 patients reported last week, state health data showed.

August had 11 COVID-19 deaths in Bucks County, per state data.

COVID-19 vaccinations in Bucks County chugged along with more shots in arms.

State data stated 39,992 Bucks Countians were partially vaccinated and 323,648 were fully vaccinated at the start of this week. The numbers meant about 3,000 more residents were fully vaccinated compared to the prior week.

Out of the four Philadelphia collar counties, Bucks County ranks third with only Delaware County further behind. However, Bucks County and the Philadelphia collar counties have vaccination rates higher than most of the state.
