The state’s third-largest county-run parks system has a new leader.
Earlier this month, the Bucks County Commissioners appointed Angela Nagle to be the director of the Bucks County Parks and Recreation Department. The department falls under the General Services Division.

โAngelaโs qualifications and experience in campus recreation along with her effective management style are the perfect combination,โ Bucks County General Services Director Kevin Spencer said. โI am excited as Angela joins our team to carry the torch forward.โ
Nagle, who will work from the administration building at Core Creek Park in Middletown Township, comes to county government after serving as assistant athletics director at Saint Josephโs University and director of campus recreation at La Salle University.
Nagle has two degrees from Temple University. One is a bachelorโs degree in athletics and recreation management and the second is a masterโs degree in education with a focus in athletics and recreation administration.

โOur parks, nature centers, recreational facilities, and historic properties provide wonderful opportunities for residents to engage in essential wellness activities,โ said Nagle, who will soon be moving to Middletown Township. โI am thrilled to have the chance to continue the work of my esteemed predecessor and lead our team to improve the parks and recreation experience for the residents of Bucks County.โ
Nagle has a collegiate recreational sport professional credential and is a certified pool operator. She is an active member of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials (NACPRO), Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society (PRPS), and National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA).

Nagle fills the position left vacant when longtime department head Bill Mitchell retired in April after leading the department for nearly 32 years.
The county’s parks system has more than 9,000 acres of land across eight sites and three nature centers. It employs 80 full-time and seasonal employees and has an annual operating budget of about $4 million.
