The wayward black bear that ended up in a wooded area in Falls Township walked into a trap overnight.
The bear was captured in the trap near an office building off Lincoln Highway near the intersection with West Trenton Avenue, police said Wednesday morning.
Fox 29 reporter Steve Keeley reported he could hear the bear’s claws scratching against the metal trap.
Doughnuts were placed in the trap to draw the bear, police said.
The bear will be taken to a more rural location and be set free.
Authorities estimated the bear weighed about 150 pounds and may have swam across the Delaware River from New Jersey.
The bear was spotted in nearby sections of Lower Makefield Township before making it over to Falls Township Tuesday, police Chief Nelson Whitney said.
Jim Allison, who has lived on Makefield Turn since 1974, said its the first time he’s seen a bear in his neighborhood.
Black bears in the area are not unheard of, but they are certainly not a common sight.
