Bucks County COVID-19 Test Positivity Rate Drops To 3.4%

Bucks County is seeing its lowest new COVID-19 case numbers since mid-October.

Last week, Bucks County had 334 new COVID-19 cases, a 79 percent drop since the final week of March, according to Pennsylvania Department of Health data.

The Bucks County Health Department has credited the drastic drop in new cases on vaccination efforts.

Bucks County’s COVID-19 test positivity rate dropped from 5.3 percent to 3.4 percent last week, state health department data showed. The drop marked the first time the county has seen a level lower than 5 percent in months. Health experts consider a positivity rate of 5 percent or more uncontrolled spread of the novel coronavirus.

Bucks County reported three COVID-19 deaths last week, a drop over the prior week.

At the end of last week, a total of 37 COVID-19 patients were in local hospitals and four were on ventilators. The number is the lowest since the week before Thanksgiving.

Since the pandemic began, Bucks County has seen 60,427 cases and 1,293 deaths.
