A 30-year-old man was arrested after police said he tried to take a weapon from an officer.

Frederick John Kornstedt, of Bristol Borough, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, and disarming a law enforcement officer. He was arraigned by on-call District Judge Daniel Baranoski and bail was set at 10 percent of $75,000.

On Friday around 6 p.m., officers arrived at the Commons at Fallsington in the Morrisville section of the township for what police described as a “domestic situation.” They reportedly arrived to find Kornstedt outside.

Kornstedt walked toward an officer’s vehicle in a “confrontational manner,” causing the officer to exit his patrol unit, police said.

Kornstedt approached the officer and started to cry before threatening to “grab” his gun. He then tried to remove the officer’s weapon from his waist belt, police said.

Officers were able to take Kornstedt into custody.

Kornstedt later attempted to exit the patrol car and kicked at officers, causing minor injuries, police said.
