The weekend National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day collected several tons of unused and unwanted medications last Saturday.
The Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission reported that 9,943 pounds of medications were collected from drive-up drop-off sites within Bucks County. This April’s event collection total did not beat the record of 14,362 pounds set last fall.

Additionally, there were 450 pounds of sharps collected at special sites in Bensalem Township, Hilltown Township, and Warwick Township. Those three sites also distributed more than 200 overdose-reversal medication kits.
Since taking part in the drug take-back day events in 2010, Bucks County has collected 162,640 pounds of unused medications. Bucks County’s totals are the highest in Pennsylvania.
There are more than 40 year-around drop-off sites around the county for residents to use.
