The weekend National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day led to Bucks County collecting their largest total of unused and unwanted medications since the program started.

The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office said the drive-up event that took place at locations across the county collected 14,362 pounds, which is 3,356 pounds more than the previous record.

“Law enforcement officers collected unneeded or expired over-the-counter, prescription medication and vaping products for safe disposal at 46 sites throughout the county. All medications collected are incinerated outside of the county in a process that is overseen from start to finish by law enforcement,” the district attorney’s office said in a statement.

Since the national program started in 2010, Bucks County has collected 152,697 pounds of drugs.

There are 44 year-around drop-off sites around the county for residents to use.
