Two Bristol Township parks will be receiving upgrades in the coming months thanks to federal grant funds.
Bristol Township is slated to receive $647,609 through the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program that is designed to benefit communities with a certain percentage for low- and moderate-income residents. The fiscal year for the program runs from July 1 through June 30, 2022.

Township Manager Randee Elton said the community will receive $647,609 through the CDBG this year. A total of 20 percent will be used for administrative costs, $100,000 will be set aside to help low- and moderate-income residents with emergency home repairs, $307,088 for sewer work, and $111,000 set aside for parks.
In the upcoming cycle of the grant, the township will put $15,000 toward playground surfacing at Sara Johnson Park in the Bloomsdale-Fleetwing section and $15,000 for playground surfacing and $6,000 for a play structure at Violetwood Playground on Mill Creek Road, Elton said.
Past CDBG funding is currently being used to upgrade JFK Park.
