A developer is looking at building a self-storage facility and restaurant with a drive-thru in the area.

Provemi Sheikh Group LLC and PV Asset Management, both of Baltimore, are seeking zoning relief to construct a large self-storage building with a fast food restaurant in front on 2.83 acres at the former Aldi store on Woodbourne Road in Middletown Township’s Levittown section.

The developer is seeking eight variances, including for a self-storage center in a commercial zoning district and impervious surface, from the Middletown Township Zoning Hearing Board. The developer came before officials last week but the discussion will be continued to the zoning hearing board next meeting.

Aldi moved from the location in summer 2019 and opened in a new store a short distance away. Aldi had occupied the spot since 2004.

The new proposed construction would not touch the nearby area where plans for a several-hundred unit residential complex fell apart a few years ago.
