Demolition was underway Monday on the last remains of the homes on Elm Street in Bristol Borough.
The row homes that sit off Jefferson Avenue began being demolished last month through a partnership of the Redevelopment Authority of Bucks County and Bristol Borough. The homes have been purchased one-by-one by the borough starting in the 1990s.
No firm plans have been laid for the site, but borough officials have explained the vacant homes were deteriorating.
The demolition by De Nucci Excavating Corp. is being covered through $80,000 from the Redevelopment Authority of Bucks County and $32,000 from the borough.
The borough-owned homes on Chestnut Street are not slated for demolition at this time, but that could be down the road.
A set of row homes on Elm Street across from the demolition site were taken down in the late 1980s after a massive fire.
