A Bristol Borough woman was charged for a reported assault that happened earlier this month.
Bristol Township officers were called to the 7000 block of Headley Avenue on Friday, March 12 around 7 p.m. for a report of an assault that just happened. The report came to dispatchers as an assault involving a chain, according to court papers.

According to a woman at the scene, Ashland Diamond Baughman, 28, assaulted the woman with a “large chain,” police said.
Baughman was advised by the woman not to go into the backyard of the property and argued with the woman, police said.
The woman told officers she noticed Baughman had the large chain wrapped around her hand. Baughman then began punching. The hits were largely blocked, police said.

As the fight progressed, Baughman unraveled the chain and swung it, striking the woman and causing injuries, police said.
The woman fled into the Headley Avenue home at the scene with the help of the property owner and Baughman swung the chain at the door, causing damage, police said.

Baughman fled the scene on her bicycle, police said.
The woman’s injuries from the chain strikes were non-life-threatening. However, a local injury law firm has to assist the woman regarding compensations depending upon the severity of the injuries.
Baughman was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime, criminal mischief, defiant trespass, disorderly conduct, and harassment. She was arraigned and jailed on 10 percent of $100,000 bail. She is also facing recent drug charges in an unrelated case.
