The Pennsbury School District is dealing with a lot of Right To Know requests.
School Board President Christine Toy-Dragoni said during Thursday evening’s meeting that the district is handling a large number of requests that are costing “significant” staff time and legal assistance.

“Recently, however, our district has received so many Right To Know requests that it has nearly shifted our focus away from our mission,” she said.
The school board president did not state whether the large number of requests were from one entity or what made present requests strenuous for the public body that controls a $217 million budget.
In recent years, some municipalities have complained that large public record requests from out-of-state businesses that aggregate information have caused headaches for busy public servants.

Toy-Dragoni said the district will be highlighting the costs in upcoming meetings. She said the district has “veered off in a new direction in regard to Right To Know requests.”
The school board president said that there are “limits to what administers can accomplish” while handling Right To Know requests.

Pennsbury’s Chief Financial Officer Christopher Berdnik serves as the district’s open records chief.
School districts are required to comply with Pennsylvania’s Right to Know law.
While there are some exceptions that can be made, most government records are able to be requested and reviewed by the public.
