FLASHBACK TO 1909: Suburb Being Laid Out In Bristol Twp.

A regular feature looking back at what was being printed more than 100 years ago in the former Bucks County Gazette. This week’s entry comes from the February 9, 1909 edition of the newspaper.

Fine Residence Tract Being Laid Out In Bristol Twp.

A beautiful tract of ground comprising over sixty acres, fronting the Delaware River and extending back beyond the railroad has been taken over by a syndicate of capitalists and will be developed as a residential suburb of Bristol.

The plot of ground is located at Edgely and is known as the Brown Tract.

The Riverview Farm Realty Company is the corporation which owns the estates. William G. Grieb is the manager. The company has ample capital and associated with the corporation are men who have been successful in building Glenside and other Philadelphia suburban towns.

The same plans which were pursued in making beautiful suburban towns along the Philadelphia and Reading Railroads in the vicinity of Philadelphia will be followed here.

The Brown tract will be surveyed and divided into building lots. Streets will be graded, and cement sidewalks made before any lots are placed on the market.

There are practically no desirable sites for the residence building in Bristol and with good street car service the new enterprise should prove successful.
