A chain restaurant that has been open in Middletown Township for close to 20 years has closed.

The Ruby Tuesday along East Lincoln Highway in front of the Lowe’s store closed last week, according to an employee.

Ruby Tuesday’s website no longer lists the Middletown Township location as being open. Calls to the location were met with a busy signal.

In October, the chain eatery filed for bankruptcy protection and noted they had $100 million and $500 million in debt across the company. The chain has closed dozens of locations in recent years.

Ruby Tuesday shuttered locations in Bensalem Township and Warrington Township in recent years. The Middletown Township restaurant was the company’s only remaining outpost in the county.

Law360 reported last month that the landlord of the Middletown Township location asked a federal judge to order them to pay $47,400 of back rent and $17,000 in attorney fees.

The lease, according to papers filed in bankruptcy court, showed Ruby Tuesday’s deal starting in 2003 and set to expire in January 2024. Rent for the site is $159,720 annually.
