Bucks County saw the number of new COVID-19 cases drop last week.
The county reported 2,117 new COVID-19 infections last week, which was 593 less cases than the first full week of the year, according to state data.

The county is starting to see cases drop to levels not seen since mid-November as the recent surge grew.
“Our numbers are definitely improving as the post-holiday surge has calmed down,” Dr. David Damsker, director of the Bucks County Health Department, said in a statement. “However, there are still 10 times as many cases as there were over the summer. Let’s continue to be smart and safe while doing the things we need to do.”
The county’s COVID-19 positivity rate fell from 14.7 percent to 12.6 percent last week. Health experts consider a test positivity rate of 5 percent or more concerning.

Last week, the deaths of 30 Bucks Countians with COVID-19 were reported. The county passed 970 deaths, which is larger than the population of Hulmeville Borough.
As of Monday night, there were 167 Bucks Countians in hospitals with COVID-19. Among those 167 people, 38 were in intensive care and 24 of those were on ventilators.

The county is currently offering free COVID-19 testing at three locations, including one in Bristol Township.
Vaccine rollout across the county continues. As of Monday night, there have been 15,960 partial vaccinations and 3,431 full vaccinations.
Since the pandemic began, 36,682 Bucks Countians have caught COVID-19.

Ways residents can help reduce the spread of COVID-19:
- Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
- Wear a mask properly when in a business or where it is difficult to maintain proper social distancing.
- Cover any coughs or sneezes with your elbow, not your hands.
- Clean surfaces frequently.
- Stay home to avoid spreading COVID-19, especially if you are unwell.
