The Bucks County tradition of reenacting Gen. George Washington’s 1776 Christmas day crossing of the Delaware River didn’t take place in its normal fashion this year due to COVID-19.

The nonprofit Friends of Washington Crossing Park still kept the tradition alive by filming and premiering a short movie on the crossing.

The crossing was a pivotal moment in America’s history, and the reenactment normally draws thousands of people to the state park in Upper Makefield every Christmas.
