Middletown Township doesn’t want families to miss out on Halloween fun.
While some families may curtail normal trick-or-treating amid the pandemic, the township has organized a drive-thru route for kids to collect a bag full of goodies from a number of organizations, including municipal government agencies and area businesses.

The free event will take place Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. starting at Forget Me Not Lane. Families can enter by driving through the Flowers Mill Shopping Center by Jos. A. Bank. The event was originally scheduled for Thursday, but weather focused it to be moved up a day.
“Dress up in costume, decorate your car, and join in the fun! You’ll never know who you might meet along the way! Chick-Fil-A will be there giving out treats and selling their original sandwich for a quick, drive by supper,” the township said in a statement.
Halloween tunes will be broadcast through an FM radio station courtesy of the Mid Atlantic Event Group.

The event is being promoted by the Middletown Township Parks and Recreation Department with support from police and the fire marshal’s office.
The township is also having a jack-o’-lantern contest where residents can bring their decorated pumpkin to the Municipal Center. Police dog Jester will then choose the winner, who will get a $25 Visa gift card.

Excess candy from the event will be donated to Operation Gratitude, which ships donated sweats to deployed troops, veterans, and first responders.
