A petition has sprung up calling on the Pennsbury School Board either remove Superintendent Dr. William Gretzula or that he resign.
The petition popped up over the past week and gained more than 560 signatures as of Saturday.

Gretzula made the surprise announcement last month that he would be leaving Pennsbury by the end of the school year.
The superintendent noted that he had been dealing with a non-life-threatening medical issue since early 2020.
Tim Daly, who represents the Reopen Pennsbury group that hosted a protest outside the administration building last month, spoke at last week’s school board meeting and pointed to the petition. He said Gretzula is “paralyzing the district.”

“We demand that the Pennsbury Board of Education review Dr. Gretzula’ current employment status and that his resignation be accepted effective immediately with full pay and benefits provided through June 2021,” the petition reads.
The Reopen Pennsbury group has also sent emails to the school board asking them to respond to the petition.

The petition points of the lawsuits Pennsbury is facing that make serious claims and an ongoing law enforcement investigation that has asked questions about the district. It also focuses on the district’s efforts to return students to the classrooms.
At the school board meeting last Wednesday, member Joshua Waldorf offered his “full throated” support for Gretzula and added he plans to support him through the end of the year. He added that he’s delighted to keep Gretzula.
School Board President T.R. Kannan said Gretzula will not be leaving until the end of the school year.

Gretzula said that will take “whatever arrows come my way” and commended work of administration.
