Bucks Countians who requested mail-in voting ballots should begin receiving them as soon as this week.

By midweek, county government expects the first sets of more than 150,000 requested mail-in ballots to go out as printing vender Kutco drops them directly at a mail processing facility.

During last week’s State of the County address hosted by the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, Commissioner Bob Harvie, who heads the Board of Elections, said the ballots have been prepared and tailored for each voters’ district, including local candidates and any referendums.

“It’s a tremendous amount of printing that needs to get done and go out,” he said.

The county been hoping to get the ballots out last week.

Harvie explained the additional staffing and equipment the county has added to handle the increase in mail-in voting.

Bucks County Commissioner Gene DiGirolamo said new voting machines and the large amount of mail-in voting have created challenges for the county but all votes will be counted.

“I want to assure everybody that they can feel safe and secure if they are using mail-in or absentee voting. I also want to assure everybody that they can feel safe and secure at the polls,” he said.

DiGirolamo told the group of business people that he hopes the state legislature allows counties to start counting mail-in ballots ahead of election day. If not, he warned election results could be delayed.

DiGirolamo encouraged voters to mail back or drop off their ballots sooner rather than later.

Secure and guarded mail-in voting collection boxes have been set up at the county offices in Bristol Township, Doylestown Borough, and Richland Township during business hours. More information on them can be found on the county election portal.
