Bucks County will not be offering free flu shots this fall.
Due to the pandemic and a very busy county health staff, the Bucks County Department of Health will not be offering free flu shot clinics in the lower, central, and upper parts of the county in 2020, spokesperson Larry King said.

“At this point, we’re not doing them,” he said.
The free flu shot clinics often draw crowds of Bucks Countians.
A number of pharmacies offer low-cost flu shots. The Pennsylvania Department of Health offers information on getting the flu vaccines for those uninsured and underinsured by calling 1-877-PA-HEALTH (1-877-724-3258).

State and federal government health experts have advised people to get the flu vaccine. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have advised Americans to get a flu shot before the end of October.
“We are entering flu season in the middle of a global pandemic, as COVID-19 is still spreading through our communities. This is why it is especially important for everyone to get their flu vaccine. The flu vaccine is a great way to not only protect yourself, but those you love who have medical conditions that could make influenza very serious for them,” Pennsylvania Health Security Dr. Rachel Levine said.

“Anyone older than 6 months of age should get a flu vaccine unless they have a medical condition that prevents them from getting one. This year, individuals can get the flu shot or the nasal spray as options to protect against the flu,” the state health department said.
Between September 29, 2019 and last week, there were 198 influenza-related deaths in Pennsylvania, with the largest group being people 65 and older, according to state data.
