Middletown Township is looking to move forward with a drainage improvement project in the Langhorne Gables neighborhood.
Isaac Kessler, the township engineer, said the township is looking to add infrastructure to help storm runoff that often pools and sits in parts of the neighborhood, which is relatively low-lying and flat.

The idea behind the project is to capture flooding and direct it to streams, Kessler said.
The neighborhood wasn’t constructed with many stormwater systems.
Kessler explained that the project, which would largely include work along the side of the road, would take place on Glenside Avenue between Fernwood and Cypress Avenue, Cypress Avenue to Longview Avenue, and Longview Avenue to the stream connection along Buttonwood Avenue.

If bids come in low enough, there would be additional work to address an undersized pipe and a safety concern along Willow Avenue, Kessler told the Board of Supervisors last week.
Middletown Township is planning to use a $275,000 Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program grant to cover the cost of the work.
