A 40-year-old woman was taken to a city burn unit after a Friday morning fire in Bristol Township’s Levittown section.
Firefighters were called to the 90 block of Oaktree Drive at 6:14 a.m. for the report of a blaze.

Engine 225, which is operated by the township fire marshal’s office, arrived first and was quickly followed by volunteer crews. Firefighters heard someone may have been inside the home and a fire marshal’s office member pulled out a woman from the burning home, Levittown Fire Company No. 2 Chief Chris Shortt said.
Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said the 40-year-old woman was trapped in a bedroom and rescued. She was turned over to medics and transported to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown Township and then transferred to Temple University Hospital’s burn unit in Philadelphia.
The fire was brought under control in about 15 to 20 minutes, Shortt said.

Dippolito said he determined the blaze started in a rear bedroom at the home.
The fire investigation is being assisted by detectives from the police department.

In addition to Levittown Fire Company No. 2 and the fire marshal’s office, Fairless Hills, Falls Township, Edgely, Levittown No. 1, and Tullytown fire companies responded to the scene. The Bucks County Rescue Squad and Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad were also called.
Shortt noted that the fire marshal’s office recently expanded the hours of staffing on their engine on weekdays and that led to the truck arriving at the scene so quickly.
