County Health Director Says Out-Of-State COVID-19 Cases Growing

The area’s public health official warned residents of a growing number of Bucks Countians who caught COVID-19 during out-of-state travel.

Of the 28 cases reported to health officials, one is too delayed to be considered infectious, eight were caught in other states, eight infections occurred in other states, six were residents of long-term care facilities, five resulted through household contacts, two were from community spread, one was transmitted at a workplace, and six were unable to be reached by contact tracers.

“Multiple cases today were infected due to out-of-state travel,” Health Department Director Dr. David Damsker said in statement. “Unlike much of the pandemic where Southeastern Pennsylvania was a ‘hot spot,’ Bucks County now has fewer cases than many of the places people are traveling to. Please continue practicing caution when leaving the area.”

Recent days have also listed several new cases linked to outside of the state.

One death of a COVID-19 patient was reported Wednesday. The death was of a 62-year-old man with underlying health conditions, according to the county.

As of Wednesday night, 75 Bucks Countians were in area hospitals and 11 were in critical condition on ventilators.

Since the pandemic began, 5,311 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported, 504 deaths, and 3,333 recoveries.
