The work will involve removing the existing single-span steel girder bridge and replacing it with a two-span steel girder bridge, providing more room for a potential widening on the Turnpike in the future.
Nebraska Street and Martins Lane, which sit near the bridge, will be adjusted to make more space for the Turnpike.
The work is part of the multi-phase Turnpike-I-95 connector project that celebrated the two highways being linked in 2018.
