You may have heard, but the Bristol Indoor Flea Market was packed for its opening weekend and the trend continued this Saturday.

In its first weekend in business, the flea market, which is operated by Phila Flea Markets, had about 10,000 visitors over the two days, according to Tony Soprano, the marketing coordinator for Phila Flea Markets.

“We anticipated a large turnout due to the two-month delay,” Soprano said. “Everyone was so anxious to get in, but we never expected the overwhelming response by the public.”

The parking lot of the former Walmart on Commerce Circle in Bristol Borough was packed last weekend for the flea market and that happened again this weekend. The large crowd breathed a new life into a part of the shopping center that has been empty since Walmart closed in 2017.

The large flea market features antiques, collectibles, vintage jewelry and fashion, used and new merchandise, and handmade items. Soprano said there are about 325 vendors.

While the flea market was initially expected be open only into the spring, Soprano said its time in Bristol will be ongoing.

When asked how long the flea market will remain, Soprano said it would remain “as long as vendors and shoppers keep coming.”
