UPDATE: Police Examine Vehicles In Connection With Route 1 Hit-&-Run Death

Police have identified the woman killed along Route 1 early Monday morning.

Alexandra Ridgway, 29, who previously was listed in government documents as living in Bristol Township, was killed when she was struck by multiple vehicles along Route 1 between the Neshaminy High School exit and the Old Lincoln Highway entrance in Middletown, police confirmed.

Ridgway was walking along Route 1 or attempting to cross it when she was hit by multiple vehicles in the southbound lanes of the highway, police said.

None of the striking vehicles stopped.

Emergency crews responded to the scene around 3:30 a.m.

“The investigation is still ongoing. We have received several leads throughout the day and our crash investigators and detectives are following up on all information we receive. This investigation has been quite involved so far and has required our investigators to travel to several locations throughout the region including into Philadelphia and Montgomery County,” police Chief Joseph Bartorilla said.

An arm that 6abc and CBS 3 reported belonged to Ridgway was found about 9 miles away from the crash scene in the 8800 block of Pine Road in Philadelphia on Monday afternoon. Middletown police declined to confirm the reporting.

The chief said detectives notified Ridgway’s family of her death on Monday evening.

Michael Egan, Ridgway’s brother, wrote on a GoFundMe page collecting money for her funeral that his sister dealt with some mental health issues. He added the family did not know why she was on the highway.

The crash closed both lanes of Route 1 between the Penndel exit in Bensalem and the access road in Langhorne Manor. The closure lasted more than 8 hours and caused havoc on local roads.

Due to the crash, school buses going to Maple Point, Poquessing and Sandburg middle schools and Neshaminy High School were delayed Monday morning.
