A new melted sandwich restaurant in the Lincoln Plaza shopping center in Middletown is slated to have their grand opening Saturday.

Melt Shop will open Saturday at 11 a.m. at their new 2,500-square-foot eatery along East Lincoln Highway with the first guest in line receiving free grilled cheese for a year. On Sunday, the first 50 guests at opening and the first 50 guests to dine after 6 p.m. will receive a free Nutella shake. The next day, the first 100 guests will receive a free tots.

The new Melt Shop is operated by Pennsylvania-native and experienced franchisee, Drew Smith, who operates 29 Five Guys and five Melt Shops locations across the Philadelphia area.

“We opened our second and third Pennsylvania Melt Shop restaurants in Newtown and Downingtown in 2019 and we’re eager to kick off 2020 with our newest restaurant in Langhorne,” said Smith. “It’s our goal to bring Melt Shop to as many people in the greater Philadelphia area as we possibly can. We’re excited to open and look forward to continuing to expand the Melted Sandwich Movement across the state and beyond.”

Smith has plans to develop 17 additional Melt Shop restaurants across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.

Melt Shop started in New York City 9 years ago and features melted sandwiches, chicken tenders, cheeseburgers, tots, salads, and shakes. It lists the fried chicken melt topped with pepper jack cheese, red cabbage slaw and Melt Sauce on country white bread as a popular item.

A mall spokesperson said the Five Guys burger joint that will be next to the Melt Shop is set to open in late March.

Late last year, Metro Diner and Chipotle Mexican Grill opened across the parking lot from the Melt Shop and Five Guys locations.

Simon Property Group, which also owns the Oxford Valley Mall, has been working in recent years to remake Lincoln Plaza. It has added new stores, including upscale ones, and also the new eateries. In addition, the mall owner is also looking to build 600 apartments next to the mall property and also remake the site for the 21st century.

“We are thrilled to introduce Melt Shop to the Langhorne community for all visitors and shoppers to experience,” said Stephanie Weaver, area director of marketing for Oxford Valley Mall. “As we continue to add dining favorites like Melt Shop, Metro Diner and Chipotle, we are eager to serve our guests with a variety of eateries that promise something for everyone.”
