Middletown police in a social media post clarified and provided more details on the incident in the township’s Langhorne section:

We have been made aware of information circulating on social media of an attempted child luring or child abduction this past Saturday in the Penncrest section of our township.

There was a suspicious vehicle (a small red Honda) called into us in the area where the child was walking. The driver (a heavyset Hispanic male) exited the vehicle and appeared to walk toward the child before getting back in the vehicle and driving away. Nothing was said to the child and there was no physical contact made. This person’s intention(s) are unknown and there was no actual attempt to abduct anyone.

We are investigating the incident and we will have increased patrols in Penncrest and surrounding sections over the next week or two.

Langhorne Borough police Chief John Godzieba said there were no reported incidents in his community.
