New playground equipment is coming to Falls Township.

Last week, the Falls Township Board of Supervisors voted to approve a plan to install a new play unit and a handicap accessible ramp at Franklin Kirby Park on Vermillion Way in Levittown.

The new play equipment will cost $99,921.18 from MRC Inc. The company has offered to donate installation of the playground equipment.

The current park equipment is 21 years old, above the average age of many of the township’s park equipment, Parks and Recreation Director Brian Andrews said.

The donation of the installation is expected to save about half the price the playground upgrade would have cost, Andrews said.

The township aims to upgrade one or two playground every year going forward. The intent is to replace of equipment and keep playgrounds safe, Andrews said.

“It’s going to be a constant upkeep,” he said.
