High Winds, Swollen River Causing Problems Friday Morning & Afternoon

High winds and rain caused problems throughout the Levittown area on Friday.

The winds and gusts brought down branches, trees, and wires. Throughout the morning and early afternoon, several power outages were reported around the area.

As of 1:45 p.m., about 150 customers in the Levittown area were without power.

A downed tree closed Maple Avenue between Flowers Mill Road in Middletown and Pine Street (Route 413) in Langhorne around lunchtime.

Around noon, live electric wires fell across the 200 block of North Pine Street in Langhorne Borough and caused a patch of grass to catch on fire. The downed wire closed the roadway for about an hour, borough police Chief John Godzieba said.

A tree was also down on Veterans Highway (Route 413) between Trenton Road andย Frosty Hollow Road in Middletown.

The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory through Friday at 7 p.m. A Coastal Flood Advisory was issued for the Delaware River, including Bristol Borough, and forecasters warned there could be minor tidal flooding.

In Bristol Borough, the Delaware River was beginning to leave its banks but had not yet spilled in the the Mill Street Parking Lot as of noon.
