A Levittown-area businessman was recognized for his service helping other small business owners.
Wendelin “Bim” Stahl, who lives at Juniper Village at Bucks County in Bensalem, received a trophy recently to commemorate his efforts helping start the Bucks County chapter of SCORE, a small business mentoring organization.

Stahl and another Bucks County man founded the local chapter in 1988, but he could not join the chapter as he was not retired and still owned an appliance store in Fairless Hills. Once Stahl sold his business in 1989, he was able to officially become a member of the SCORE chapter he helped start. At the time, SCORE had a rule that required all volunteers be retired executives.
At his recent recognition by the group’s executive committee and two members of the Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce, Stahl recalled his service in the Navy Air Corps in Miami during World War II and joked that he single-handedly protected Florida from invasion.
Stahl, a past president of the Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce, learned of SCORE through the U.S. Small Business Administration before going on to start the local chapter.
