
A man started the new year in the hospital and facing criminal charges.
Stanislau Rabau, 32, of Middletown’s Langhorne section, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, police were called to St. Mary Medical Center Wednesday morning, New Year’s Day, for a report of a disorderly patient. Upon arrival, an officer met with an EMT who said Rabau kicked him in the right side of the head while treatment was being explained.
The EMT told an officer Rabau reportedly asked before the incident if he was a police officer.
The EMT had redness on the side of his head from the kick, police said.

A charge nurse told an officer the alleged assault happened while hospital staff were attempting to administer an IV.
Rabau was arraigned by District Judge John Kelly and released on $50,000 unsecured bail.
