State funds will help support local school district’s homebound student programs.
The Bucks County Intermediate Unit, which serves all the districts in the county, received a $28,197 Keystone Telepresence grant. The money will go toward equipment and and services to help educate students who are at home recovering from serious medical conditions, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

“Historically, students suffering from serious illness or severe injury would lose significant instructional time,” said Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera. “These grants will help provide them an opportunity to not only be educated in ‘real time’ but also remain part of their school community.”
Intermediate units can obtain equipment and then let school districts borrow the equipment to place it within the homes of students who are recovering.
The Bucks County Intermediate Unit’s grant was part of $300,000 awarded across the state.
