Middletown will be installing electric vehicle charging stations at two municipal buildings.
The Board of Supervisors voted earlier this week to approve purchasing two electric vehicle charging stations from ChargePoint for the Public Works Building on Veterans Highway (Route 413) and the Municipal Center on Municipal Way. They also authorized a contract with National E Solutions at a cost of $13,500 for installation of the two charging stations.

The charging stations are being purchased through state grant money, officials said.
The township is still working on a plan for a small charge for public use of the stations at their two facilities.
According to information from the U.S. Department of Energy, the Levittown area hosts electric vehicle charging stations in Bristol Borough, Falls Township, and Middletown.

Also at the meeting, the Supervisors voted to approve purchasing a 2020 Dodge Durango from Chapman Auto Group at a cost of $28,474 for the police department. An additional $4,572.83 will be paid to 10-8 Emergency Vehicle Services to outfit the vehicle for police use.
Officials said the full cost of the vehicle is being paid for by insurance as a replacement for a patrol car that burst into flames earlier this year. The officer will have the loss of his personal items that were in the car also covered by insurance.
