A candidate running for school board was appointed to fill a vacancy weeks before the election.

Falls Township resident Sherwood “Chip” Taylor was appointed Thursday evening to fill the position left vacant last month when Jacqui Redner resigned due to a move out of the district.

District Judge Jan Vislosky swore Taylor during the school board meeting.

Taylor, who currently operates a business, previously worked for the school district for seven years and got to know the district’s operations, according to his League of Women Voters candidate guide.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help enact positive change for our district. I will do everything in my power to do what’s best for our kids. I want to take a close look at Pennsbury’s resources and make sure we are utilizing what we already have to it’s fullest potential. I will step into my new role as board member with open arms and open ears. I would love to hear what ideas parents, students, teachers and support staff have for our district,” he told LevittownNow.com.

Taylor, the son of a longtime Pennsbury administor, will serve the rest of Redner’s term until the December 5 reorganization meeting.

He is running alongside incumbent board members Gary Sanderson and John Palmer on the Democratic ticket for Region Two. The Republican ballot will feature Sanderson, Michael Pallotta, and Taylor.
